Ensure the Integrity of Our Elections

Election security is essential to preserving the integrity and legitimacy of democratic processes. It guarantees that elections are conducted fairly, transparently, and free from interference, bolstering public confidence in the outcomes. A secure electoral system is the bedrock of our republic, instilling trust among citizens that their votes are accurately counted and that election results truly reflect the will of the people.

Robust election security measures are a powerful defense against malicious actors—both foreign and domestic—who seek to undermine elections through cyberattacks, disinformation, or other forms of interference. These measures are not optional; they are critical to protecting the sovereignty of our republic.

Election systems manage vast troves of sensitive data, including voter registration information, making their security a top priority. Effective protocols ensure the integrity of vote casting, counting, and reporting, safeguarding every step of the process from potential manipulation or fraud. Most importantly, election security is a non-negotiable pillar of our republic, protecting the fundamental rights of citizens to participate in free and fair elections without fear of coercion, error, or compromise.

In 2020, the Texas Public Policy Foundation's Election Integrity Project released the "Secure, Accountable and Free Elections" or SAFE agenda outlining reforms to ensure Texas is a model for accurate and reliable elections throughout the country. Consistent with TPPF's SAFE agenda, I will fight for the following reforms:

  1. Mandate that all voters in every election must be United States citizens and require verification of citizenship during the voter registration process.

  2. Remove individuals from voter registration lists if they fail to vote in a specified number of election cycles, provided they are notified and given an opportunity to respond within a designated timeframe.

  3. Mandate that the Texas Secretary of State conduct a comprehensive audit of all county voter registration lists every five years.

  4. Enhance Texas' vote-by-mail system by centralizing all operations, including ballot processing, counting, and storage, under the Office of the Secretary of State.

  5. Enhance coordination between the Texas Secretary of State’s elections division and Texas counties by implementing standardized voter registration processes and improving communication channels.

  6. Increase criminal penalties for individuals involved in voter fraud, and prohibit specific individuals or groups from soliciting voters to accept assistance in the voting process.
